Sardine run
This is a fishing
spectacular which happens annually on the Southern African coast
mainly from the KwaZulu-Natal south coast around Durban. This is
usual during the winter months of Southern Africa (June / July).
One is in close
proximity of this fishing experience - a must for fishing
enthusiasts and marine biologists. The sardine is often called the
"fever fish", because people literally go crazy when the first
fish appear close inshore. And it's not only homo sapiens that get
feverish about these billions of little fish. They also cause a
delightful symphony of sea life. Winter and sardine season also
bring with it other visitors, namely, thousands of bottlenose
dolphins moving up from the cold cape waters to KwaZulu-Natal. The
South Coast is one of the
worlds top destinations for dolphin viewing. From the
ostentatious dolphins frolicking in the wave and the flocks of
swooping seagulls, to the ever favourite whales, (Humpbacked &
Southern Right Whales) this spectacle is a fascinating and
unforgettable experience.

An extremely efficient security system is another feature that distinguishes San Lameer from other holiday complexes. The entire property is surrounded by an electric fence. The entrance gate is carefully monitored and no visitors may be admitted without prior arrangement.
